There’s something “Bow-U”-tiful coming to the north side of town in Auburn! It’s a second Bow & Arrow location set to dish up the same South Texas smokehouse flavor, with a dash of something extra in the upcoming venture. Let’s dig into the details to see what’s in store for the new location.
About the upcoming location
David Bancroft, the creative mind behind Acre and Bow & Arrow, is expanding his culinary footprint with a new venture he affectionately named Bow-U. This new location will bring a fresh vibe to the building that formerly housed Vintage 2298, located just off East University Drive.
Bancroft is enthusiastic about the revitalization and aims to honor the building’s charm while introducing some exciting new features. A few of the things to look forward to include a possible “grab-and-go” marketplace with casseroles, “take and bake” Bow & Arrow enchiladas, Acre peanut butter pies, pimento cheese, smoked beef jerky and more.
Bancroft’s culinary achievements
Bancroft is no stranger to culinary accolades. He has been recognized as a five-time semi-finalist for the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: South, including in 2025. Additionally, his culinary skills were showcased on a national stage when he triumphed on Food Network’s “Iron Chef Showdown” in 2017.
Guests can expect the same level of dedication and passion for bold flavors and memorable dishes at the upcoming Bow-U. Evidenced by the preview of the menu.
The menu
Bow & Arrow is notable for its authentic South Texas smokehouse cuisine. Patrons can expect a mouthwatering selection of slow-smoked meats, including brisket, ribs and pulled pork, complemented by an array of Southern and Tex-Mex sides. Dishes like enchiladas, fajitas, and tacos, paired with creamy mashed potatoes, savory collard greens and more, enhance the dining experience.
The new Bow-U location will allow for unique additions. This includes a cabana bar and a marketplace offering grab-and-go delights such as casseroles, smoked brisket and Acre’s famous peanut butter pies.
Renovations and jobs
Renovations are underway and expected to be completed by mid-May to early June 2026. This project involves approximately $1.9 million in investment and is projected to create more than 40 jobs.
According to reports, Bancroft is excited to blend the best of Bow & Arrow and Acre to create a unique culinary destination.
Location
The upcoming Bow & Arrow, Bow-U, is at 2298 East University Drive. It’s easily accessible from Downtown Auburn and a short drive from the Auburn University campus. Making it a convenient stop for locals and visitors alike.
