Named for the university’s founding year, 1856 at the Rane Center at Auburn University is a true example of collaboration, innovation and education.
The restaurant offers hands-on learning experiences under the guidance of a distinguished Chef in Residence each year. Along with the faculty of the AU College of Human Sciences Hospitality Management Program, fine dining menus are carefully crafted.
Students in the program work alongside the professionals serving an à la carte lunch menu. Experience something unique with a tasting menu during the dinner service. The tasting menu includes suggested wine pairings from the extensive cocktail and wine menu, created by the Master Sommelier in Residence.
More about 1856
A roof-to-table experience, the menu at 1856 is seasonally inspired and changes often. Fresh vegetables, herbs and produce grown in the Rane Center’s rooftop garden are carefully cultivated and managed by students in the AU Horticulture Program.
Those high-quality, fresh ingredients are the springboard for a one-of-kind menu and dining experience. The tasting menu refreshes every two weeks so diners can expect a new experience with each visit.
