Around Auburn and Opelika, the seasons are never boring. Fall brings football, winter means (sometimes) snow, and spring ushers in a host of festivals, marathons and more. As for summer, it continues the opportunity to get outside—and to hear some great music. If you’re ready to kick back, relax, and listen to some tunes, it’s time to check out these free outdoor concerts in Auburn and Opelika.

Summer Swing Series

Throughout May—and the rest of the summer—you can look forward to the Summer Swing Series each Tuesday. Thrown by the Opelika Parks system, the series will feature a different musical guest or group each week. Every concert will open at 6:15 p.m. and begin at 7 p.m. at Monkey Park, located at 700 Fifth Ave. in Opelika. Attendees can also go on free train rides and buy delicious concessions. The series kicked off earlier in May, but the rest of month’s performers are:

  • Lee-Scott Academy Jazz, Concert, and Symphonic Band on May 14;
  • East Alabama Community Band on May 21; and
  • Crossroads on May 28.

Noon Tunes

For a peaceful, relaxing afternoon, it’s time to check out the Noon Tunes concerts! Also presented by Opelika Parks and Rec, the Noon Tunes concerts offer amazing musical guests. During the performances, add a twist to your picnic and eat your meal as the music plays. From noon to 1 p.m., musical guests will put on a show for you at Courthouse Square in Opelika. The series kicked off earlier in May, but the rest of month’s performers are:

  • Martha’s Trouble on May 15;
  • Muse on May 22;
  • Strawberry Whine on May 29.

Summer Sundown Concert Series

There’s nothing like listening to beautiful music as the sun begins to set. The Summer Sundown Concert Series offers fun and free concerts in Auburn and Opelika, making your nights memorable. Sponsored by Auburn Parks and Recreation, it’s also free to the public. Concerts take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Town Creek Park on 1150 S. Gay St. Looking to entertain your kids until the concert starts? Games and inflatables are also free. The series kicked off earlier in May, but the rest of month’s performers are:

  • Soul Co. on May 9;
  • Michael Warren on May 16;
  • The Dion Hawkins Band on May 23; and
  • Open Skye on May 30.
